The Green I&T Day 2023, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Government’s Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) and the Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology, with advisory support from the Environment and Ecology Bureau and the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Exchange Office, took place on 14 September 2023. It featured over 200 participants from various sectors in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and garnered over 100,000 views during the live broadcast.
The event focused on the adoption of Innovation and Technology (I&T) to reduce carbon emissions, with themes of "green transformation" and "journey to carbon neutrality." It included seminars where experts from Hong Kong and the Mainland shared their experiences and showcased 15 local and Mainland exhibitors' achievements in energy conservation and renewable energy.
Eric received an invitation to deliver a presentation on the new food waste anaerobic digestion facility, O·PARK2, located in Sha Ling, Hong Kong, that Agrivert, with its local joint venture partners, is building and operating for the Hong Kong government. During his presentation, Eric provided insights into the facility's goals, challenges and the technical innovations implemented, such as food waste pre-treatment and the utilisation of high-rise anaerobic digestion (AD) tanks. He also highlighted the importance of efficient stirring and mixing, responsible engineering practices, and the facility's modular structure. O·PARK2 will soon commence the commissioning phase of the project and begin to accept food waste in the coming months.
