Built to service Oxfordshire County and its District Councils and The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maindenhead, the Wallingford composting site processes up to 25,000 tonnes of garden waste a year. The site is also used throughout the year to educate members of the public and school children about the benefits of recycling.
The facility is designed to accept source segregated green garden waste. It diverts organic waste from landfill and produces a valuable organic compost fertiliser. Wastes that can be treated in the facility include a very wide spectrum of green waste including plant cuttings, weeds, grass cuttings, hedge prunings, cut flowers and branches no larger than 7.5cm in diameter. We are unable to accept Japanese knotweed, ragwort, soil or treated wood.
